Sakhalin administration revises 2013 gas production growth forecast down

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK. Sept 24 (Interfax) - The administration of Sakhalin Region has revised downwards its forecast for the growth of gas production on Sakhalin this year.

Regional Governor Alexander Khoroshavin, speaking at the conference Sakhalin Oil and Gas, said that gas production on the island could rise 6% this year as compared with 2012 - to roughly 28 billion cubic meters (bcm).

Khoroshavin said back in January that 2013 gas production in the region could rise 7.2% to 29.6 bcm.

The bulk of the gas production in Sakhalin Region is done by the projects Sakhalin-1 and -2. The production of liquefied natural gas under the Sakhalin-2 project is expected to remain at last year's level of 10.4 million tonnes.
