MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Russia still expects explanations and apologies from the Netherlands regarding an attack by policemen on Dmitry Borodin, the Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy to the Netherlands, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said.

"Russia is still expecting exhaustive explanations, if such are possible at all, real apologies and effective measures against the organizers of and participants in this provocation from the Dutch side," Lukashevich said in a commentary published on the Russian Foreign Ministry website.

Dutch Foreign Ministry Spokesman Thijs Van Son said earlier in a telephone interview with Interfax that the Netherlands was investigating the incident involving the Russian diplomat detained by Dutch police, and if this investigation shows that the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations was violated, then the Netherlands would apologize to Russia.
