Aliyev gets over 90% of votes at Azeri presidential election - exit poll
BAKU. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Incumbent Azerbaijan President Ilkham Aliyev gets 92.15% of votes at the presidential election in Azerbaijan on Wednesday, an exit poll by the Prognoz (Forecast) independent sociological studies center showed.
Second comes Jamil Gasanli, with 6.06% of votes, the exit poll showed.
According to the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission, the voter turnout as of 10 a.m. local time was 18.2%, or 937,456 voters.
There are 5,491 polling stations and 5,144,937 voters in Azerbaijan. The presidential election started at 8 a.m. local time and will end at 7 p.m. local time.
There are ten candidates running for the presidency in Azerbaijan: incumbent president, chairman of the New Azerbaijan ruling party Ilkham Aliyev; chairman of the Umid (Hope) party, parliamentary member Igbal Agazade; ex-deputy chairman of the Ana Veten (Motherland) party, parliamentary member Zakhid Orudzh; Azerbaijan United Popular Front party chairman, parliamentary member Gudrat Gasanguliyev; Modern Musavat party leader Khafiz Gajiyev; Social Democratic Party leader Araz Alizade; National Revival Movement leader Faraj Guliyev; single candidate from the opposition National Council of Azerbaijani Democratic Forces Jamil Gasanli; Adalyat (Justice) party leader, parliamentary member Ilyas Ismailov and Azerbaijan Democratic Party leader Sardar Jalaloglu.
