Armenia could mine 50% more metal ore in 2013

YEREVAN. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Armenia could mine 31 million tonnes of metal ore this year, up 47.6% from 21 million tonnes in 2012, Deputy Energy and Natural Resources Minister Areg Galstyan said in the country's parliament.

As of September 2013, the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry had issued 439 mineral licenses, 24 of them to mine metals.

Galstyan said metals prospecting and exploration was in progress at 68 licensed properties.
