Moldovan Communists promise unprecedented protest action on Nov 23

CHISINAU. Nov 18 (Interfax) - The opposition Communist Party in Moldova is planning a massive protest action demanding the resignation of the government and the dissolution of the parliament. The plans were disclosed at a Sunday meeting of the party's Central Committee.

Vladimir Voronin, party leader and former president of Moldova, said that on Saturday an unprecedented national demonstration would take place.

"The regime cannot invent anything new in politics, the economy or society. But it has excellently learned how to subsist on money transfers, whether they be the money of our people working abroad or grants and loans of Western donors received for betraying our motherland," Voronin said.

"The normalization of the situation in Moldova requires the following steps - urgent integration with the Customs Union, an energetic social policy, and the eradication of corruption and organized crime," he added.
