Nothing threatening Ukraine's economic, financial stability now - PM Azarov
KYIV. Dec 18 (Interfax) - Nothing is threatening Ukraine's economic and financial stability now, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said.
"I can say firmly today that there has been a turning point, and we now have a promising future and strong confidence that we can preserve both social and financial-economic stability. Nothing is threatening stability of the financial-economic situation in Ukraine now. Not a single economic factor," Azarov said in opening a government meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The agreements and understandings reached between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents in Moscow on December 17 enable Ukraine to anticipate stability of its government financial system in years to come and the resumption of economic growth, he said.
"Thanks to yesterday's agreements, stability of the government finances is guaranteed," he said.
Although the crisis has not yet been fully overcome, all factors that might destabilize the financial-economic situation in the country have been eliminated, he said.
"The agreements between the Ukrainian and Russian presidents enable us to plan the future years as years of development and the people's confidence in the stability of their lives," he said.
"We won't allow anyone to undermine the situation that has been normalized through so hard efforts," he said.
"I am once again addressing the leaders of all political forces to whom Ukraine is truly dear: Let's reach a consensus on the state's development and on how to protect the economy from crisis," Azarov said.
