Russian Communist Party leader supports introducing death penalty for terrorism

MOSCOW. Dec 30 (Interfax) - Leadership of the Russian Communist Party said that it was necessary to introduce death penalty for terrorism and to monitor movements of militants' family members.

"It is necessary to limit the movements of militants' family members or, at least, monitor them," Communist Party Central Committee Deputy Chairman, First Deputy Head of the State Duma committee for ethnic affairs Valery Rashkin said on Monday following terrorist attacks in Volgograd.

It is necessary to draw a number of conclusions from what has happened, in particular to use the experience of foreign colleagues in fighting terrorism more actively, Rashkin said.

It is reasonable to review the federal law, firstly "in order to introduce death penalty for terrorism," Rashkin said.

A comprehensive investigation should be held in the law enforcement authorities of Volgograd and the Volgograd region in order to determine "how they missed the preparations of the terrorist attacks," Rashkin said.

"It is time to make personnel conclusions," he said.

"We intend to sent a request to the State Duma demanding to find out how professionally Volgograd Mayor, United Russia representative Irina Guseva is taking care of security and calm in her city," Rashkin said.

Control over domestic migration should be enhanced, especially in North Caucasus, Rashkin said.
