Problems with access to Vkontakte were caused by commutator failure
MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - The problems with access to the social networking site Vkontakte were caused by a failure at the level of commutators, Pavel Durov, the founder of the site, said on Twitter.
"Vkontakte is loading with problems. We are working on fixing the problem at the level of commutators. Everything will be restored soon," Durov said on Twitter at 4:41 p.m. Moscow time.
Problems with access to the social networking site began around 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
Vkontakte press officer Georgy Lobushkin told Interfax that the causes of the problem are unknown. "we are hoping to find and resolve it in the nearest future. We will announce it right away," he said.
Lobushkin reiterated that reports of problems with accessing Vkontakte are coming from all over the world.
In the meantime, some users are saying that they have no problem accessing Vkontakte. Specifically, various pages of the site are loading with the help of Yandex Browser (other browsers are not opening the site. However, in some cases Yandex Browser also has problems opening Vkontakte pages.
