Draft resolution on constitutional reform put before Ukraine parliament

KYIV. Jan 29 (Interfax) - A draft resolution to appoint a commission for drafting changes to the constitution to restore the parliamentary-presidential form of government was officially introduced to Ukraine's parliament on Wednesday.

The author of the draft document is Valery Pisarenko, a deputy representing the ruling Party of Regions.

Independent lawmaker Serhiy Mishchenko told reporters the proposed resolution would prescribe that the commission be headed by Ruslan Knyazevich, a deputy and member of the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) opposition group, be set up before March 1 and finish drafting the constitutional reform by October 1.

Mishchenko said the resolution was planned to be put to the vote on Wednesday.
