Severe measures may be applied to Khodorkovsky, Lebedev if they don't pay 17-bln-ruble debt - Federal Court Bailiff Service chief

MOSCOW. Jan 30 (Interfax) - Artur Parfenchikov, the chief of the Russian Federal Court Bailiff Service, has warned that "severe measures" may be applied to former Menatep head Platon Lebedev and former Yukos head Mikhail Khodorkovsky to recover 17-billion-ruble debt from them.

"Possibly some more severe measures could be applied, depending on our communication with the debtors and their representatives," Parfenchikov said at a press conference in Moscow on Thursday.

There is the possibility that the deed on recovering the money from the convicts may be closed, Parfenchikov said. "There is such a procedure as the closure of a deed, when it's impossible to recover anything," he said.

The court bailiff dealing with Lebedev's and Khodorkovsky's cases has taken a pause and plans to meet with their representatives in the near future, Parfenchikov said.
