Criminal case opened based on Moscow school shooting - Markin
MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - A criminal case has been opened based on three articles of the Russian Criminal Code in connection with the incident in Moscow School N263, Investigations Committee official Vladimir Markin told Interfax.
"A criminal case has been opened based on Articles 206 (hostage-taking), 105 (murder), and 317 (attempted murder of law enforcement officials) of the Russian Criminal Code," Markin said.
According to information possessed by the investigators, a high school student of School N263 came to the school with weapons around noon on Monday. A security guard tried to stop him, but he racked the slide on the gun.
"The security guard managed to press the alarm button and led the young man to the biology room, where Grade 10 students were located. On his way there, the shooter wounded a teacher, who later died," Markin said.
"When police officers came to the school, the shooter opened fire in their direction, wounding one of them and killing the second," Markin said.
All hostages have now been released and the shooter has been detained, Markin said.
"A group of operatives have begun working on this case. Investigations Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin has come to the site," Markin said.
