Crews for two Mistral-class helicopter-carriers to be trained by end of 2014
VLADIVOSTOK. Feb 11 (Interfax-AVN) - Five hundred candidates have been selected to undergo training for service on the Mistral-class amphibious helicopter carriers, the Vladivostok and Sevastopol, to be assigned to Russia's Pacific Fleet, Pacific Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Sergei Avakiants told the press.
"The crews formed are undergoing re-training at the Navy's training center, set up in St. Petersburg in late December 2013," he said.
"The two crews will be 500 strong in all, and their training will last until December 2014," the admiral said.
Besides the two helicopter carriers, other ships of the first and second ranks of the ocean and sea zones will be located in the Uliss Harbor base, currently under construction in Vladivostok, he said.
