Freight traffic blocked at all Lviv region customs posts - Ministry

KYIV. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Protestors have blocked freight transport movement at all customs posts (Rava-Ruska, Krakovets, Shegini, Smilnitsya) in the Lviv region as of February 20, the Ukrainian Ministry of Revenues and Duties said.

"Only light vehicles and minibuses are allowed to pass. Currently, protestors are inspecting the interior and trunks of these vehicles in blockaded places outside the checkpoints. The Hrushiv-Budomierz checkpoint, which is on the Polish border and carries out general control, is working as usual," the statement said.

The individuals blocking the borders should "stop blocking the work of customs checkpoints and allow revenues and duties officers to take measures to restore traffic," the ministry said.

"Such a blockade risks disrupting food supplies and other shipments to Ukrainian populated areas. Besides this, the situation might lead to significant financial losses for the companies and enterprises directly involved in foreign-trade operations," the statement said.
