Russian airlines increase passenger traffic 9.7% in January-February

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Russia-based airlines boosted passenger traffic 9.7% in January-February 2014 year-on-year to 11.024 million people, federal air transport agency Rosaviatsia said in a statement.

Passenger turnover in the two months increased 7.4% to 31.261 billion passenger-kilometers. Seat occupancy edged down 0.6 percentage points to 75.7%, while commercial loading increased 1.2 percentage points to 64.1%.

Air freight volume declined 4.7% to 132,653 tonnes and freight turnover was down 8.4% to 645.520 million tonne-km.

In the month of February the airlines increased passenger traffic 8.9% year-on-year to 5.189 million. Passenger turnover rose 5.6% to 14.329 billion passenger-km. Seat occupancy fell 2.7 percentage points to 74.8%. Commercial loading increased 1 percentage point to 64.8%.

Air freight in February fell 4.8% to 65,622 tonnes and freight turnover was down 9.9% to 300.151 million tonne-km.
