SIMFEROPOL. March 16 (Interfax) - Voter turnout at Sunday's referendum on Crimea' future status had reached 70% by 5 p.m. (7 p.m. Moscow time), according to a posting on the referendum's website.

Crimea's prime minister, Sergei Aksyonov, told Interfax that the referendum is proceeding without incident.

"No provocations have been reported. The situation is quiet and under control," he said.

Crimean voters are to decide on Sunday whether Crimea should reunite with Russia or stay within Ukraine.
