Kyrgyz government steps down
BISHKEK. March 19 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has signed a decree on the government resignation, the presidential press service told Interfax on Wednesday.
"A. Atambayev has met with the chief of the presidential administration, Daniyar Narymbayev, who handed over a letter from the leader of the Yrys Aldy Yntymak parliamentary majority coalition, Felix Kulov, declaring the coalition's loss of the parliamentary majority status," the press service said.
Consistent with the constitution and the constitutional law "On the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic", the president signed a decree on the government resignation, it said.
"The decree recognizes the resignation of the government formed under an agreement between factions of the Socialist Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan, Ar Namys and Ata Meken concluded on September 3, 2012," the press service said.
"The decree rules that persons holding the positions of the prime minister, the first deputy prime minister, deputy prime ministers and government members shall continue to perform their duties in the government consistent with their positions until the formation of the new cabinet," it said.
The Yrys Aldy Yntymak parliamentary majority coalition ceased its activity after the secession of the Ata Meken faction due "to the loss of political resources by Prime Minister Jantoro Satybaldiev."
