Nazarbayev, Obama discuss prospects for Kazakhstan's WTO membership

ASTANA. March 25 (Interfax) - The presidents of Kazakhstan and the United States, Nursultan Nazarbayev and Barack Obama, respectively, met in The Hague to discuss how to further strengthen and develop their countries' bilateral trade and economic relationship.

About 300 U.S.-Kazakh joint ventures are operating in Kazakhstan, which demonstrates the dynamic of our trade and economic cooperation, Nazarbayev said. The U.S. is one of the biggest investors in the country's economy, Kazakh president's press office said on Tuesday.

Nazarbayev stressed that Kazakhstan is keen on active involvement of U.S. companies in the industrial innovative development program, the press office said.

The talks also focused on Kazakhstan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the pressing international issues, the press office said.
