Kremlin does not expect quadripartite talks to resolve Kyiv gas debt problem
MOSCOW. April 11 (Interfax) - The Kremlin doubts the possibility of solving the problem of Ukrainian gas debts to Moscow at the quadripartite negotiations of Russia, the United States, the European Union and Ukraine.
"It is possible to discuss the gas issue with the United States but this is pointless because there is no subject for discussion. It is possible to have a discussion with the EU but, again, this discussion will not be fully-fledged without contract countries - Brussels is not a party to the contract," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
"There are certain difficulties in arranging the dialogue process," the press secretary noted.
Peskov opined that Russia might learn about the Ukrainian intentions regarding the payment of gas debts at the quadripartite negotiations.
