Four people still unaccounted for after warehouse explosion
CHITA. April 30 (Interfax) - The authorities in the Transbaikal Territory have published a list of people killed by the explosion at a military ammunition warehouse.
Among the ten individuals on the list are the warehouse chief, Lt. Col. Vitaly Pan, and the garage manager Alexei Sukhov.
There were earlier reports about seven people missing. Three of them are now on the list of those dead. The search for the other four continues.
The emergency relief effort involves 233 people, 22 pieces of equipment and four aircraft from the Emergency Situations Ministry. Other ministries and government departments have allocated 526 people, 169 pieces of equipment, and 13 aircraft from the Defense Ministry.
The ignition and explosion of ammunition at the military warehouses occurred in the Karymskoye district in the Transbaikal Territory near the villages of Bolshaya Tura and Kadakhta on April 29. According to the latest reports, the fire killed ten people and left 27 injured.
Over 2,000 people have evacuated from Bolshaya Tura and Kadakhta.
Three criminal cases have been opened on the charges of causing death by negligence, destruction of military property by negligence, and recklessness resulting inadvertently in the death of two or more people (Article 209(2),(3), Article 347, and Article 293(3), respectively, of the Russian Criminal Code).
