Ukraine's Luhansk region decides not to postpone May 11 referendum
MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - Anti-Kyiv protesters in Ukraine's Luhansk region followed the example of the Donetsk region and decided against postponing a May 11 referendum on the Luhansk region's status.
"The referendum will not be postponed," a Luhansk "self-defense forces" leader, Alexiy Chmylenko, told Interfax on Thursday, adding that such a decision had been adopted by the "people's assembly of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic".
The "Donetsk People's Republic" earlier decided to go ahead with its May 11 referendum.
