ChTPZ starts making nano-modified LDP

CHELYABINSK. May 19 (Interfax) - Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling plant (ChTPZ) has launched commercial production of large-diameter pipe (LDP) with a triple-layer polyethylene surface based on nano-modified materials, the company said in a press release.

Rusnano company - Metakley will produce the nano-materials and has been tasked with replacing foreign analogues on the Russian market. The first nano-covered pipes will go to Gazprom .

ChTPZ produced a sample batch of these LDP at the end of 2011. Test results showed that the product corresponds with Gazprom technical conditions and standards. The LDP, which the Vysota 239 division will produce, can be used in the construction of gas pipelines with an operating temperature of up to 60 degrees.

Around a third of all LDP with anti-corrosion coating produced at Vysota 239 in 2014 will use materials from CJSC Metakley.

ChTPZ plans to later certify the use of ChTPZ pipes with nano-coating in the projects of its key partners, including OJSC Transneft and OJSC Rosneft and to increase the share of materials purchased from Metakley for LDP with triple layer anti-corrosion polyethylene to 100%.

The ChTPZ Group manages Chelyabinsk Tube Rolling Plant (ChTPZ) (ChelPipe), OJSC Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant (PNTZ), scrap metal company LLC Meta, the metal trading subdivision CJSC Uraltrubostal Trading House, and an oil service division represented by Rimera. Arkley Capital manages the group's assets.
