UK-Russia Year of Culture preparations unaffected by sanctions - minister

MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - Western sanctions against Russia because of the crisis in Ukraine have so far not hampered preparations for the planned UK-Russia Year of Culture this autumn, the Russian culture minister said on Wednesday.

"There are [preparations] underway. So far we haven't felt any effect of the sanctions, there are no sanctions in cultural affairs," Vladimir Medinsky said at a press dinner.

One of the events would be a visit of artists from the Covent Garden opera house, he said.
