Joint Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian military brigade may be created soon - Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
KYIV. May 29 (Interfax) - Ukraine is hoping to sign an agreement on the creation of a joint military brigade with Lithuania and Poland in the near future, Ukraine's acting foreign minister Andriy Deschytsia said.
"As to the formation of this brigade, we need to sign the document first, and we are going to sign it in the near future," Deschytsia told a press conference on Thursday after meeting with his Lithuanian counterpart Linas Linkevicius at a press conference on Thursday.
Deschytsia said he had discussed with Linkevicius issues relating to the creation of such a joint military brigade and said he is hoping this document will be signed in one of the next top-level meetings.
Linkevicius, for his part, said the document was drawn up a long time ago. "Lithuania is ready to sign it as soon as possible, when it is convenient for Ukraine and Poland to do it together," he said.
The Lithuanian minister said this document is highly important for further practical and military cooperation.
