Putin, Erdogan discuss situation in Ukraine in telephone conversation
MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine in the context of the recent presidential election in Ukraine in a telephone conversation, the Kremlin press service reported on Friday.
"Vladimir Putin emphasized his serious concern about the continuing punitive operation the Kyiv authorities are conducting in the southeastern part of the country. The hope was expressed that the new Ukrainian leadership will stop forcible actions against the civilian population and will switch to arranging direct dialogue with regional representatives," it said.
