Half of Slovyansk building "razed to the ground" by Ukraine army - militia
MOSCOW. June 10 (Interfax) - Militiamen of the self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Repubic" have claimed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed half of buildings in the city of Slovyansk.
"I can say that 50% of the city's buildings have already been razed to the ground," "Southeast Front" spokesman Kostyantyn Knyrik told Interfax on Tuesday.
Furthermore, there have been disruptions to the city's electricity and water supply, he said.
"In Slovyansk residents are experiencing serious problems with power and water supplies. Mobile phone services are almost absent in the city. Some districts are having problems with gas supplies," Knyrik said.
The situation in Slovyansk was relatively quiet last night, while fighting continued in Kramatorsk, he said.
"At 11:00 p.m. Moscow time on Monday, the Ukrainian Armed Forces started to bombard the Stankostroi neighborhood. The preliminary information available suggests that 250-caliber howitzers were used. Strikes against some residential areas of Kramatorsk continued for more than an hour. Fearing for their lives, people hid in air raid shelters, which they were able to leave only at 3:00 a.m. or 4:00 a.m.," Knyrik said.
