Joint Georgian-U.S. drills near Tbilisi end

TBILISI. June 17 (Interfax) - The joint drills of Georgian forces and U.S. Marines - Agile Spirit 2014 - at the Vaziani range near Tbilisi have ended, the Georgian Defense Ministry press office said on Tuesday.

According to the information of the ministry, for four days Georgian and U.S. servicemen took theoretical and practical courses. Personnel studied types of manual explosive devices and procedures upon finding them.

A mixed formation of Georgian and U.S. soldiers practiced patrolling and setting mobile checkpoints. A "corridor search operation," which includes isolating certain territory and searching for personnel, vehicles and buildings, was held.

Three mixed groups of the U.S. Marines and 42nd battalion of the fourth infantry brigade of the Georgian Defense Ministry participated in the exercises.
