Over 170 mln rubles worth of Ecuadorian cocaine seized in St. Petersburg
ST. PETERSBURG. June 20 (Interfax) - The Russian Interior Ministry interacting with the St. Petersburg city department of the Federal Security Service and the Baltic Customs have seized 28 kilograms of cocaine shipped from Ecuador.
The operatives learned about the cocaine shipment by sea and detained a 41-year-old suspect from Moscow, the Russian Interior Ministry press service said on Friday.
"Packages which presumably contained drugs were found in his car and confiscated. Tests identified the substance as cocaine with a total weight of 28 kilograms," the report said.
The drugs were routed to Moscow. The black market cost of the cocaine shipment tops 173 million rubles.
The suspect was charged with smuggling large quantities of narcotic drugs and arrested.
