NCCP secures contract to supply high purity lithium to Chinese co
NOVOSIBIRSK. June 23 (Interfax) - Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant (NCCP), a division of Russian nuclear fuel company TVEL, has signed a three-year contract with a Chinese company to supply high purity lithium-7 (Li-7) as part of a pilot project, the company said in a statement.
A spokesman for the company declined to disclose to Interfax the value of the contract or the name of the Chinese company, citing commercial confidentiality. This "is not a dealer, but a Chinese resource company that works professionally in this business," he said.
Li-7 with 99.99% purity is a new product for NCCP from a pilot high purity lithium production line. The decision to set up the line was made in April 2014 by the investment committee of state nuclear corporation Rosatom.
NCCP CEO Konstantin Vergazov was quoted as saying in the statement that the successful launch of the pilot line will in 2015 guarantee stable export shipments of a high-tech product to a Chinese customer for the period to 2022.
