Staff of int'l organizations in Vienna to work remotely until April 3 over coronavirus

MOSCOW. March 13 (Interfax) - Employees of international organizations in Vienna have been ordered to work remotely from March 16 to April 3 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Russian Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov said on Twitter on Friday.

"In view of the pandemic situation caused by the coronavirus, the Executive Heads of the 4 major Vienna-based int.organizations have decided to instruct all personnel (with the exception of essential or critical staff ) to work remotely from March 16 to April 3," Ulyanov said.

"Multilateral diplomacy isn't immune to coronavirus. Vienna http://Int.Center will be closed until 3 April or longer. Official events are cancelled. This will affect work in the areas of non-proliferation, atom for peace and development, CTBT, export control, outer space etc.," he said.

The Vienna International Center is home to numerous organizations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, the UN Industrial Development Organization, and others.
