Lavrov, Steinmeier favor soonest possible meeting of contact group on Ukraine - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. July 4 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier agreed in a telephone conversation on Friday that it is necessary to hold a session of contact groups on Ukraine as soon as possible, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a telephone conversation with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on July 4, during which they continued to discuss the development of the crisis situation in Ukraine," it said.
"Both ministers emphasized the need for holding a meeting of an international contact group as soon as possible to reach an agreement on a ceasefire and on starting negotiations on settling the conflict," it said.
