Armed people seize a number of policemen in Luhansk - NSDC
KYIV. July 7 (Interfax) - Armed people captured the regional police operative service chief, his deputy and another three officers in the Luhansk region, the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) said.
"We have just received that information," NSDC information center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a press briefing on Monday.
He did not disclose incident details or measures taken to release the hostages.
The captured officers are from the Sievierodonetsk police, Lysenko added.
"Kidnappings continue in the territories temporarily controlled by terrorists. In particular, on July 6 bandits seized the head of the Sievierodonetsk police operative service in the Luhansk region, his deputy and three other officers," he said.
