Over 6,000 people arrive from Ukraine to Russia's Rostov region - authorities
ROSTOV-ON-DON. July 9 (Interfax) - The flow of refugees from Ukraine crossing the Russian-Ukrainian border in the Rostov region is not growing weaker and 6,223 people came from Ukraine in the past 24 hours, the press office of the Rostov governor said in a statement on Wednesday.
"In the past 24 hours 6,223 people crossed the Ukrainian border to Russia, 3,235 from Russia to Ukraine and 2,988 people stayed in the Rostov region," the document said.
At the same time, in the past 24 hours 320 people were brought to other Russian regions - 102 individuals to Volgograd, 90 to Astrakhan, and 128 to the town of Volzhsky in the Volgograd region.
Currently a total of 25,343 Ukrainian citizens, including 9,259 children, are in the Rostov region.
Since the emergency regime was introduced in the region (on June 4, 2014), over 4,800 refugees were transported by vehicles and almost 1,500 by air.
