Hundreds of foreign journalists arrive in Donbas following plane crash
MOSCOW. July 25 (Interfax) - Hundreds of foreign journalists have arrived in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic following the Malaysian plane crash, in which 298 people were killed, Andrei Rodkin, a representative of the Donetsk People's Republic in Russia, said.
"We have now accredited 230 journalists, most of which are foreign," Rodkin said at a meeting of the public committee for support of southeastern Ukraine held in the Federation Council on Friday.
He said the journalists "have been provided with unimpeded access to information."
"We are hoping they will report objective information and that will help change the situation with the coverage of the events on the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics," Rodkin said.
The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 which was flying from Amsterdam (the Netherlands) to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) crashed in east Ukraine on July 17. All 298 people on board were killed.
