Almost 50,000 Ukrainian nationals request refugee status, temporary refuge - Russian migration service

MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax) - Since the conflict erupted in Ukraine, over 730,000 Ukrainian citizens have fled the country and arrived in Russia, a spokesman for the Federal Migration Service told Interfax on Tuesday.

"About 160,000 Ukrainian citizens have turned to the Federal Migration Service for consultations on long-term residence not connected with employment, over 48,000 requested temporary refuge and more than 27,000 have applied for Russian citizenship," he said.
