Rospotrebnadzor inspects McDonald's restaurants in Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk region

YEKATERINBURG/PETROZAVODSK. Aug 21 (Interfax) - The Rospotrebnadzor department for the Sverdlovsk region is inspecting several McDonald's restaurants in Yekaterinburg, Natalia Lukyantseva, press officer for the department, told Interfax.

"The inspections are being conducted due to city residents' complaints about product quality. They are not being conducted in all restaurants of the chain, but only in those about which complaints have been made," Lukyantseva said.

More detailed information will become available after the inspections.

The Rospotrebnadzor department for the Chelyabinsk region, for its part, is conducting a routine inspection of McDonald's restaurants.

"Yes, we are conducting such an inspection. No results are available yet. We have two McDonald's restaurants," Anatoly Semyonov, the head of the Chelyabinsk department of Rospotrebnadzor, said.

The Khanty-Mansiysk department of Rospotrebnadzor told Interfax they are not conducting any inspections of McDonald's restaurants. The press service for the Rospotrebnadzor department for the Tyumen region could not promptly respond to a question about such inspections.

The Kurgan region and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District have no McDonald's restaurants.

In addition, the Karelia department of Rospotrebnadzor has begun a surprise inspection of the McDonald's restaurant in Petrozavodsk. "The Rospotrebnadzor department for the Republic of Karelia has reported that a surprise inspection of the McDonald's restaurant located in Petrozavodsk, which began on the basis of an order issued by Rospotrebnadzor on August 6, now continues," the agency reported on Thursday.

The first McDonald's restaurant in Karelia opened in Petrozavodsk on March 15, 2013. On August 18, the restaurant stopped working at nights (before that, the restaurant worked round the clock). There is no information on the reasons for that change in the working hours. The second restaurant of the chain is scheduled to open in a shopping mall, which is now under construction, this year.
