Investigative journalist attacked with iron rods in Saratov
SARATOV. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Police in the Russian city of Saratov are investigating an attack on Alexander Krutov, a crime reporter for the local magazine Obshchestvennoye Mneniye (Public Opinion), regional police spokesman Dmitry Rasskazov told Interfax.
"The incident occurred at around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The preliminary information available indicates that the journalist walked out of his apartment building when two unknown men approached him and attacked him with iron rods," he said.
Krutov suffered a concussion as a result of the incident and is now being treated at one of Saratov's hospitals, Rasskazov said.
Investigators are working at the crime scene, he said.
It was the fourth attack on the reporter over his 20-year career in Saratov's media, Rasskazov said.
Krutov is a well-known investigative journalist and holds Andrei Sakharov and Artyom Borovik awards.
