One of two McDonalds' restaurants in Kazan reopens
KAZAN. Aug 26 (Interfax) - A McDonalds' restaurant on Bauman Street in the city of Kazan has reopened after closing on Tuesday due to a water pipe breakdown.
"We are open," an employee told Interfax
It emerged on Tuesday that two McDonalds' restaurants in the capital of Tatarstan had closed for technical reasons: one because of the water pipe breakdown, a second due to internal reconstruction.
Checks are being carried out at McDonalds' restaurants in several Russian regions.
It emerged late last week that specialists from the Tatarstan office of the Russian consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor had detected instances of violations of the sanitary laws at local McDonalds' restaurants, including a failure to observe food storage conditions and a failure to comply with the process control program in full.
Also, the company employed people who had provided no evidence of undergoing compulsory medical checks.
Furthermore, E.coli bacteria were found in the sewage system at the restaurant on Yamashev Prospekt.
A total of 53 food samples were taken during the inspection. By August 22, results had been received from three laboratory tests, which showed one sample (chicken nuggets) not complying with the hygienic requirements for microbiological criteria (the sample was from a McDonalds' fast-food restaurant in Nizhnekamsk).
The violations uncovered prompted nine inquiries into administrative violations, including one against a legal entity.
