Head of U.S. Senate armed services' committee arrives in Ukraine

KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax) - The chairman of the United States Senate Committee on Armed Services, Carl Milton Levin, arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday.

The U.S. senator's arrival in Ukraine was announced on Twitter by U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has not made any formal statement about the visit by the influential senator to Ukraine.

According to open sources, in his letter to U.S. President Barack Obama on July 22, the Democratic senator suggested recognizing the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics as terrorist organizations and imposing broad sanctions against Russia.
