Russian and German leaders say work should continue on details of deal to postpone EU-Ukraine Association Agreement
MOSCOW. Sept 16 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at Berlin's initiative, the Kremlin press service reported on Monday evening.
Putin and Merkel welcomed a deal reached at a ministerial meeting of Russia, the European Union and Ukraine in Brussels on September 12 to postpone the enforcement of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement until January 1, 2016.
The sides, however, reiterated the need to continue joint work aimed at further specifying all details of this decision, the press service said.
The Russian and German leaders also exchanged opinions on the situation concerning Russian natural gas exports to EU member states and agreed to continue trilateral consultations on this matter.
Putin and Merkel reaffirmed the importance for the sides in the Ukrainian domestic conflict to strictly observe the ceasefire, reiterating the need for ceasefire effective monitoring by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Kremlin press service said.
