Serbia can occupy worthy segment of Russian market amid Western sanctions - Putin
BELGRADE. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Russia would not like to continue the war of sanctions with the European Union, but as long as it is continuing, Serbia has the chance to occupy a worthy segment of the Russian market, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"We really wouldn't like to continue this practice, but it still exists, and as I have said already, it is a very good moment for such countries as Serbia to occupy a worthy place in our market," Putin said following negotiations with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
"Those who are trying to complicate our economic performance, they are complicating their own as well. We know that the losses incurred by the agricultural producers of the European countries that have imposed sanctions on Russia, to which we were forced to respond by reducing imports of agricultural products, amount to billions of euros," he said.
"We are ready to invest, in the Serbian agrarian sector together and with Russian producers, and also with those Western European producers who would like to work with Serbia to supply food products to the Russian market, and we talked about this with mister prime minister today," he added.
