Recognition of elections in self-proclaimed Donetsk republics by Moscow may prompt new EU sanctions - diplomat
MOSCOW. Oct 29 (Interfax) - If Russia recognizes elections in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) planned for November 2, this might prompt the EU to consider new sanctions against Russia, says Head of the EU Delegation to Russia Vygaudas Usackas.
"This will not facilitate the interest that the EU has in reconsidering the sanctions, and I am afraid this might in fact entail further negative consequences, which we would like to avoid," Usackas told journalists in Moscow on Wednesday.
