Russian minister praises cooperation with Argentine police

MONACO. Nov 5 (Interfax) - Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev has invited Argentine police officials to visit Moscow next year to familiarize themselves with the experience of Russian police and thanked Argentina police for helping Russia look for crime suspects.

During a meeting with Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister Eduardo Antonio Zuain on the sidelines of Interpol's current 83rd General Assembly in Monaco, Kolokoltsev praised the nature of cooperation between Russian and Argentine police and said the main areas of their cooperation are economic crimes, cyber crimes and drug trafficking.

Kolokoltsev credited Argentine police with the prompt satisfaction of Russian requests for investigating activities by suspect individuals and entities and with efficiently helping Russia look for suspects.

He assured Zuain that Russia would continue to provide Argentine police with training at Interior Ministry schools and invited Argentine police officials to Russia.

"In October this year a delegation from the Russian Interior Ministry familiarized itself with the performance of police in Argentina, and I invited our Argentine partners to visit Russia in the first half of next year. This would enable them to make a deeper study of our specialist system of police personnel training," Kolokoltsev said.

Zuain argued that action against terrorism and drug trafficking is a particularly effective area of Russian-Argentine police cooperation.
