Russian military transport plane didn't enter Baltic airspace - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry has denied reports by a number of foreign media citing the Dutch Defense Ministry that a Russian military transport aircraft had violated Estonia's and Lithuania's airspace on Wednesday.

An Ilyushin Il-76 military transport plane of the Russian Air Force was on a planned flight from Pskov to the Kaliningrad region on November 12, the Defense Ministry said.

"The flight passed along an established route over neutral waters of the Baltic Sea in strict accordance with international rules of airspace use," the ministry said.

The Dutch Defense Ministry reported on Thursday that a Dutch Air Force fighter had been scrambled to escort a Russian Ilyushin transport plane after it had entered Estonia's and Lithuania's airspace without previous notification on Wednesday.
