Western sanctions will not affect Vostochny Cosmodrome project - Russian deputy PM
UGLEGORSK, Amur region. Nov 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The budget of the project to build the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia's Amur region is guaranteed and will not be reduced, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told reporters on Friday.
Any serious problems with equipment deliveries to this key strategic facility as a result of Western sanctions should not be expected either, he added.
"When forming the budget for next year, 2016 and subsequent years, the government effectively guaranteed funding [for the Vostochny Cosmodrome]. We decided not to decrease the project's budget despite the sanctions and the complicated economic situation," he said.
"The Vostochny Cosmodrome will be built. For us, it is a guarantee of the country's sovereignty. It will give us independent access to outer space. We will not take any risks there," he added.
