Putin and Poroshenko discuss bilateral ties, situation in southeast Ukraine over phone on Nov 26 - Kremlin
MOSCOW. Nov 27 (Interfax) - A telephone conversation took place on Wednesday evening between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents, Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko at Kyiv's initiative, a report posted on the Kremlin's website says.
"Issues concerning bilateral relations and the situation in the southeast of Ukraine were discussed," it said.
The Russian president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov earlier denied Ukrainian media reports that Putin had allegedly threatened his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko during their telephone conversation on November 26.
"Indeed, at the Ukrainian side's initiative, a telephone conversation took place yesterday between Poroshenko and Putin. As for a number of media reports that certain threats were allegedly voiced during this conversation, these reports are not true and do not correspond to reality," Peskov told Interfax on Thursday.
For her part, Iryna Friz, former head of the Ukrainian presidential administration's information policy department, told Interfax that the telephone conversation between the two presidents was "constructive and addressed issues that require urgent discussions."
