Delivery of coal bought by Ukraine to Russia being delayed - minister

KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry is trying to unblock the delivery of Russian coal already paid for by Ukraine, but these efforts have so far been unsuccessful, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said.

"There are some delays with the transportation of coal from Russia: about 500 railcars are stuck on the border. We have fully implemented our payment obligations," Demchyshyn said at a news conference in Kyiv on Friday.

"I am trying to get to the top level," the minister said.

Demchyshyn had said two days ago that Russia had blocked these railcars on the border and that he had been trying to settle the problem through negotiations with the Russian leadership.
