LPR says it withdrew heavy weapons from line of contact
MOSCOW. Dec 12 (Interfax) - The leadership of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) has announced that it has withdrawn all heavy weapons from the line of contact with Ukrainian government forces.
"Certainly, we have withdrawn our heavy weapons," LPR People's Council Speaker Alexei Karyakin told Interfax.
The self-proclaimed republic "has always observed all agreements and at the same time said that it would respond to any attempts at shelling or any other provocations," he said.
The truce is generally holding, Karyakin said.
"Apparently, the ceasefire regime has been observed in general, although sporadic clashes have occurred. But small arms, not heavy weapons, have been used in them. There has been no actual fighting," he said.
