Terrorist leader, four members convicted in Bashkortostan
UFA. Dec 12 (Interfax) - The Supreme Court of Bashkortostan has issued a guilty verdict to the organizer and four members of a regional cell of a terrorist group called Caucasus Emirate, a spokesperson for the Bashkortostan Prosecutor's Office said on Friday.
The court found the 44-year-old Alfred Mukhametdinov, the 28-year-old Ruslan Kurmangaleyev, the 31-year-old Artur Zagidullin, the 29-year-old Marat Sharafutdinov and the 25-year-old Denis Akhmetshin guilty of organizing an extremist group, banditry, illegal acquisition and possession of a firearm weapon, robbery and thefts, and handed them prison sentences of ten to 13 years, the spokesperson said.
It was found that in 2012 Mukhametdinov set up a cell of the Caucasus Emirate, a terrorist group that is prohibited in Russia, and got several acquaintances to join it.
In July - October 2012, the accomplices conducted "covert anti-Russian and anti-constitutional propaganda" among residents of the Mechetle and Uchaly Districts of Bashkorstostan and in the Chelyabinsk region.
