Electricity blackouts after shelling in over 100 populated areas of Donetsk republic

MOSCOW. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Shelling attacks by Ukrainian forces have led to electricity blackouts in more than a hundred populated areas and at about 1,300 energy generating facilities, according to the coal and energy ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.

"As many as 112 populated areas and 1,289 sub-stations have remained without electricity. Electricity blackouts have affected 203 transformer sub-stations in Donetsk alone, the press center of the republic's government and People's Council quoted the ministry as saying.

Electricity was cut to about 30 boiler houses and two schools in Donetsk.
