Some 1,500 policemen to patrol Kyiv streets - Interior Ministry
KYIV. Jan 23 (Interfax) - Around 1,500 law enforcers will be protecting the streets of Kyiv daily following a decision to tighten patrols, Ukraine's Deputy Interior Minister Serhiy Yarovoi said.
Joint patrol teams will include police officers, State Security Service officers, private security guards, special police units, National Guard fighters and cadets from the National Police Academy, an Interior Ministry spokesperson said. .
Very soon Kyiv police will get new patrol vehicles, Yarovoy said
On Friday, the Kyiv police garrison and the extra forces to be involved in maintaining public order, had a general briefing in Mykhailovska Square in Kyiv, the ministry said on its website. The briefing of law enforcers was conducted by senior interior officials and regional police chiefs.
